A lil bit Confused

ok im a lil lost and confused here, maybe a lil bit of clarification will help. ive searched the ringtones and fine them to be excellent. but here is where my problem lies, i completely understand the guides, but what i dont understand is why everything is in either midi or wav, but then when using the npmc it only searches for mp3. is there a way to convert current wavs to mp3s? to then only be converted back to wavs when saved onto the phone? or can the in portion of the converter be skipped and only the out used?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind, i figured out my own mistake and misthinking when it came to the programs.
I messed with the Java loader and realized that step is bypassed.
