how to transfer files to my phone using webjal

Connect your phone to your computer and then open webjal , (we will use "Ringtone" for example) Click ringtone and then to the right a white window will open and below it will be short and blunt instructions, look to the right hand of the white window and you will see "ADD" click it and a browsing window will pop open, at the top of this window you will see a "Look in" selection with a arrow next to it, click the arrow and select the "Nextel Essentials" cd and then browse to the folder where the ringtones are. If you have a phone that supports wav tones or mp3 tones look at the bottom of this same window and you will see "Midi tones" with a arrow next to it, click the arrow and pick mp3 or wav if you want to load either one of these types of tones. Then find the tone you want and select open and it will bring you back to the Webjal main window and then click download and the tone will transfer to your phone.

Use the same steps for wallpaper.

When loading java games or application's after you click the "J2ME" button a white window will open and click the download button bellow it and a window will pop open and browse to the game or application you want to load and select it and it will automatically transfer to your phone.



If you are getting General Communications Error at the end of a wavtone transfer this means that the wavtone is to long.
you can either pick a shorter wavtone or shorten this one using windows sound recorder and after you have shortened the wav tone to less than 15 secs. Then you will have to use cool edit pro to make sure that your wav file is still formatted correctly.

make sure you upload one tone at a time. and this happens, there is nothing wrong, you just have to disconnect, waite and do it again.

Well I'm frustrated, after an extreme amount of time waiting for the i930 (now they say Oct. Nov by the latest or it don't come out at all) I got a i850 to Upgrade my i95 (which upgraded my i1000 which upgraded my i600 quess how long I've had nextel)

What gets me is that I can't find guide or program that lets me down;oad my J apps, purchased Ring tones, wall papers ect to my computer then upload them to my new phone > this is silly I can convert, create, download from web all the Items I can find and place them in my phone but transfering?? geeze someone pick up on the need here and get us a utility

what the hell are you talking about? the utility is called a webjal, its in giudes section, that and a date cable is all you need to put tones, games, and wallpapers on your phone. if youd bother to search before making this post youd know that everythign that you need is on this site.

I'm sorry that such questions cause such attitude, I, being in IT and Responsible for websites such as this one (the one reason I've had Nextel for so long) are well familar with search and boolean strings, keywords and what not, what you may not see is our frustration at not finding realevent information, when you run a search with words like Download, Apps, Java, Nextel, Backup, PC you get information, links, and Guides that explain for example WEBJal, or SUPERAgent RSS (all of these I've had and use quite well) but questions such as mine went beyond the use of those applications, and while the relevent search strings where spot on they didn't return the need info, hence the questions, I ran across this when my first i95c was replaced fortunitly iDEN still had the web update site still in operation an redownloading those apps was an excercise but doable, and unless WEBJal(iDEN) or RSS have some undocumented features or part of the guide is not readily availible then I'll continue to ask the questions for apps or documentain on transfering Java, wallpapers and ringtones already purchased or found, just wish it (or at least it should be) as easy as a contact list

I think I understand why you all have so many Questions requarding your stickied informational posts- that stickied information ends up on the last page of the thread very unuasual for FAQ/Guide/Info stuck to the top type Items, most knowledge searchers when getting a list of realevent items returned for a search string look at the first post and then move on to the next if the stickied Item contains not the info they look for, 98% of the vBulliten/Ikonboard/PHPBB2/IBP forms that are out there are posted in decending order (oldest post first) this keeps your prespective members able to find info fast and makes them come back for more - Also search Engines Like Google for example will return Items from the original Post but when searchers click the link they'll see only page 1 (the newest post) while the orginal Info'ed Item could be 20 pages back, web searchers move on to the next link in there search- take it as you will just some friendly advice form another Webmaster (in other words to help searchers and lower the repeated questions change thread order from newest first to Oldest first)


as for my question, I don't think I was clear for example I have 2 ring tones on my i95 lets call them James Bond 1 and James bond 2 (two seperate short snippettes) both midi's (poly) when looking a replacement for my new i850 I found only one and it didn't sound at all like my other 2 (again midi) I also have an Java App that Lets me remote in to my servers and check they're status however that app is no longer availble for "Download" from the Nextel site... Unless someone has a "Hyper" WEBJal version I can't copy apps, ringtones from my i95 to my pc and then "upload" them to my i850 (I also see the advantage of this like a PDA Backup where you can restore it to how you had it before the replacement/power loss incident) Since you "Download to your Phone, and it's "Stored" in Memory you should be able to pull those items off to store in say a PC or even a PDA - I can see by the Searches done far and wide that such an application to do that dosen't exist - to bad it' be a nice utility for phone owners

why don't you read more carfully next time before talking that way, there are answeres on why you getting the communication error, there are answeres on what is the pass for webjal. there are answeres to any question that you might think off, so before you open your mouth, and start saying that we are not doing good job, read thrue the forums.

is the ringtone a WAV or MIDI?
if WAV then go to WAV
if MIDI then go to MIDI
