i870 & Webjal Fix

Hook up the i870 to the computer (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=765039#) via USB (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=765039#)
Next go to Control Panel ---> System
When the box pops up go to Hardware ----> Device Manager
Scroll down to where you see P2k devices
Single Click the top tier P2k (where the + or - is) basically selecting all P2k devices
Next Right-click the P2k Device and you should see Uninstall
Uninstall the P2k driver, this should uninstall all drivers
Reconnect the USB with the i870After you re-connect Windows should recognize the i870 as new Hardware and the New Hardware FOund Wizard should pop up (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=765039#)
Click Next to get to the next screen
At the bottom select "Manually Install the software"
You should see iDen USB Driver, click that and hit Next
USB driver should install but you are not done yet
Open WebJAL, Log-in, and Connect to the phone
You will see the P2k device found in the bubble and another New Hardware Wizard
Do the same as before but instead the "iDen USB driver" you will see "P2k1" or some other one (I had a P2k1 with a 12/2003 date) choose the one that just says "P2k1"
The P2k1 driver should install and WebJAL should workIf the above methode won't work try this:

Webjal should be closed

1) Click START >> RUN >> open REGEDIT >> click OK
2) Navigate here: HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2000478354-688789844-1957994488-1003\Software\Motorola\WebJAL
3) Change the value of USE_USB from 0 to 1
4) Close REGEDIT (Registry Editor)
5) Open Webjal, login, you will notice that "Connect via USB connection (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=769554#)" will be force checked.
6) Connect to phone (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=769554#)
7) Webjal should ask you to install Motorola (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=769554#) iDEN P2k1 device
8) Proceed like normal

well i heard a lot of people saying about how they can't work 870 and webjal, so here it is. My sh1t worked the first time i tryed,lol. but then again i have been working and fixing my webjal for a while now, so i know where everthing is located, ans i can point to it manually.

Here is another fix, try this.

I Have Installed Usb Driver Webjal And Patch Several Times And Every Time I Try To Click Connect Through Usb Webjal Tells Me That There Are No Iden Usb Drivers Installed. I Have Looked In Hardware Manager And I Do Not See The P2k Driver Installed Is This My Problem. man i think i foud the problem i did not have this registry entry either but i noticed fishing around here that it was recomended to install .net framework 1.1 so i went to windows update did the 1.1 update "not 2.?" update what ever the other one was uninstalled ever thing "usb driver, webja" and reinstalled everthing. When i started webjal it still did not work but i had that reg. entry!!!! i followed the instructions stated in this thread adout editing that entry, closed regedit fired webjal backup the usb check mark was there and that finaly forced found new hardwaes to pop up and it FINALY INSTALLED MY P2K DRIVER !!!!!! 20 PLUS HOURS AT THIS HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!

forgot to mention one thing after installing .net framwork 1.1 ther are two security updates i had to do just keep going to windows updates to make sure there are no high priority updates for .net framework 1.1

I ended up intsalling framwork 1.1 and plugging in my i860 checking connect usb and then applying it. And then connecting my i870 and now it works everytime with no problem.

You're not downloading webjal or usb drivers from ths site. You are attempting to dl the Nextpimp Media Center. Webjal can be gotten from www.harrythompson.com. If you paid, PM an admin with a copy of your payment and they will hook you up.

not the patch if it was the patch you wouldn't even be able to log into webjal it's your usb modem. Re install or redownload it.

yea i got it and it is still not working. I tryed both things the redgit thing says the value is already 1 and the device manager dosent hav p2k1 devices so i cant uninstall them. (I installed them for my i730)

Ok I have an i870 with latest firmware.... My serial cable works fine.. I bought a usb cable from motorola... I am using a nextel i870 with a boost sim.... It kept telling my there are no usb drivers installed... i did evertything told on every forum.... myjal and icjal say the same message about no usb driver.... but webjal finally lets me TRY and login.... But the message i am getting now, is ..... that it cannot read the required information on the phone. and will not let me connect. I really want a faster way to do this, and USB is what i was told is the best thing to use. I hate my serial.... Any ideas?

all i did was install webjal, used the ******** patch, then used my i860 to connect, disconnected after then connected my i870 saved me all the trouble. i think theres something with the p2k thing in the 870 that webjal doesnt recognize im not sure but hope thiz helps it worked for me.

Okay, all that is good. I had the webjal for the 730 and so on. I have installed everything it asked. However going into the control panel>device manager> I see no P2k devices?

What did I do wrong? Also all of a sudden I get a login window. nothing works.

i'm trying to connect my i870 to my computer using a usb port. i am trying to get ringtones, but i am having the same problem a couple of other users tried, i installed framwork 1.1, uninstalled everything and try to reinstall and it still gave me that the usb drivers are not found. i uninstalled webjal again, also the usb drivers, try to install them again and still... got the same message.

what you can do is plug your phone in the your computer and open webjal then press the connect button and after you press the connect button on webjal, Quickly unplug the usb cable from the computer and quickly plug it back in. If you time it just right, it will establish the connection and work. It normally will take a few tries to get it to connect.

That happened to my the first time I tried to hook me I870 up and I realized Webjal was made before the I870 and the software is updated. So all you really gotta do is hook up a different nextel phone like a I730, I830, or I860 to establish the first connection. After that you'll be all set with any other phone.

For the people who do not have the Key "USE_USB" you can, like me, add it yourself.

1. within REGEDIT find the proper location for webjal
2. right click on the right side of the boxes
3. choose "new>>DWORD value"
4. rename to "USE_USB"
5. double click the key and change the highlighted 0 to 1

proceed with webjal

Also, the folder S-1-5-... did not match mine either, you can search "Webjal" with ctr-f to find the appropriate location.
