I hate feeling like a noob but I'm having problems using my i860 with webjal. I used the directions step by step off of harrythompson.com and still have problems having webjal hook up with the phone. Webjal keeps saying " The applacation was unable to read the required phone info. Please check your cable and coonecion and your preferances". i have uninstalled everything once and tryed it again following the ht.com directions. The computer does make the sound when i plug the phone in so it seems like the computer is reconizing the phone. The com port is at 1 and i can't make any changes to that. not sure if that makes any diffeance. it did look like my driver was on com port 4 but the computer says com port 1 is taken. so here's a list of what I have done so far to try to get things working.

-followed the problem solving steps on ht.com
-searched on here for any info that i havnt done yet
-made sure the usb was checked in the preferances
-changed the baud rate to 19200, 1200, & 115200
-reinstalled usb driver
- changed data cables (same problem)
-deleted usb driver and then had the computer install it per ht.com directions
-tryed hooking up a i275 with no luck

any idea's?

I am a noob so maybe this won't help but here goes...After you load the webjal have you shut down and rebooted and then loaded the patcher? If you have not, nothing is going to work until you do. If you have; I had a connection problem untill I set my baud rate in the phone to Auto. I know that all the instructions say to set it at a specific rate but it wouldn't load on my i860 untill I changed to auto. These are the only glitches I ran into when loading webjal and making it do it's stuff, therefore it is the only suggestion that I have to help.

Heres the magic advise...click=Home, Forums, Guides, then be patient and read. then go to all the links that are listed in the Guides section and read the instructions posted there. I found that trail answered all my questions for the i860.
