Default Windows Vista - How to install Motorola iDEN USB Modem Driver

Here is the how-to on installing the iDEN USB driver on Windows Vista...

First, make sure that no drivers are already attempted to be installed, etc etc.

Very Important: Do not have your phone plugged into the USB cable yet!!!!

Step 1... Download the USB drivers:
Code:
http://idenphones.motorola.com/iden/support/downloads/USBInstallation.exe
Step 2... Run the driver installation
-Right click on it, and click Properties
-Click the Compatibility Tab, and under Compatibility Mode, select Run this program in compatibility with: Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
-Click OK
-Double click the program to start it
-Click OK, let it install, click YES, then OK, then OK again.

Step 3... Connect the phone to the USB cable, and make sure the cable is connected to the PC. Follow the on-screen instructions and click "Locate and Install Device Drivers"

Step 4... Error at the end huh? This is to be expected. Now right click on Computer (aka My Computer) and click Manage. Now click Device Manager. You may see 1 of 2 things (or both)...
-You are going to see either an Unknown Device with an ! mark, or your going to see Motorola iDEN USB Modem with an ! mark. Right click on the device with ! mark, and click Upgrade Driver Software.
-Click 'Browse My Computer for driver software'
-Click 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'
-Double click the Modems
-You will see 'Motorola iDEN USB Modem'. Click on the 'HAVE DISK' button.
-When it asks for the directory to install from disk, type in:
Code:
C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\MOTOROLA SHARED\MOTPCSDRIVERS\USB MODEM
-Now a list pops up to the right. Select 'Motorola USB Modem version 5.1.2600.1330 (normally the first choice)
-A window pops up informing you that its not recommended because it can't be verified as compatible. Click YES to continue installing it.

Congratulations. Successfully Installed

No Additional Vista Support will be posted at this time. I beg of you... Please do NOT PM ME, do NOT IM me asking me about this. This is honestly the clearest I can post this tutorial up for you guys.

Thanks.

No Further Support Will be Posted as this is the CLEAREST I can post these instructions so either read and try, or give up on it. lol

Additional Note: All JAL programs will require Registry Tweaks in order to work with USB. I will offer registry tweaks for JAL programs such as iMJal, WckedJal, and oDJal upon purchase ONLY.

As for webjal:
Right click and Save as:
http://www.myidone.com/vistawebjal.reg

Save it to desktop, and double click it to fix Webjal's USB problem (No USB Drivers Installed).
